Filming A Wedding With The Canon 5d Mark-ii

If you are a keen videographer looking to improve your wedding video work and keep up with the rest of the field, then you cant help but to have noticed , some of the excitement around the new digital SLR cameras producing video. Although these cameras have been out for nearly 2 years now- many videographers still haven't dipped there toe in the water, as a stills camera operates in a completely different way to a video camcorder.

With the stills camera you have to set the ISO, shutter speed, focus and aperture for every shot you take and this becomes even more critical when shooting video. Your in luck however due to the various modes on the Canon 5D, which allows several levels of automatic operation, however shooting a movie will still require parameters to be set depending on the available light, colour temp and focal effect required. Its no wonder videographers have shyed away from these cameras, however if you perceiver you can achieve some truly stunning results that will take you video to the next level.

The Benefits of the Using A DSLR 5D

Firstly the look of the wedding video captured looks big budget! It does not look anything like a video camcorder, unless your shooting on film. A massive advantage is the interchangeable lenses, where a whole range of different looks can be achieved. Normally videographer would not change their lenses whilst on a shoot, but with a Canon 5D you would definitely want to. For those setting shots (say a wedding video London) a wide angled lens coupled with a little movement will take your breath away, whilst a telephoto lens can offer some stunning crushed field and throw focus options.

So a 5D to shoot a whole wedding?

With multiple cameras this can be achieved, but this is not for the faint hearted, as you will have to use an external sound device as the microphone is more of a reference mic but not up to professional standards. When using the Canon 5D in combination with a professional video camcorder, for the money the results can be truly mind-blowing!

Should you ask your friends and family to be your photographers on your wedding day?

Nearly everyone seems to carry along with them in everyday life, Whether it be on their mobile phone or as a separate small digital camera.  The convenience of having a high-quality camera on your phone, Has meant that there are many more pictures are being taken day then in the past, now everybody seems to love taking pictures and all becoming better at taking good photographs.

How can you harness this power for your wedding?
So you've invited 100 guests to your wedding, potentially you are armed with dozens of budding wedding photographers each covering different angles and moments of your day.  Yet it is not as simple as asking them all to take photographs as you will have to have a way of collating them altogether, even asking them all to email you their photos from today would just be impractical due to the sheer number of photographs and image sizes.
One of the best ways would be to find an online storage space for everybody to either email or upload their photographs.  There are many websites which enable you to do this  , each with their own pros and cons and way too many to mention in this article, but try searching for reviews on Tinypic, Flickern or photo bucket and expand your search from there.
Rather than asking your guests to upload all their photographs, ask them to just upload a selection of their best photographs from the day.  If you can afford to hire the services of a professional wedding photographer, then asking your friends and family to take photographs would still be a great addition to the wedding day.  Professional photographers know how to take great pictures and you will end up with a great selection of photographs from them alone, however they can't be everywhere and friends and families will take more humorous and fun photographs from more intimate moments of the day,  which is photographer could never re-create.
For a truly reportage and off the wall wedding photographic experience try asking your friends and family to be your photographers your wedding day.

Tired of writing unique website content? Then why not dictate it!

Recently I took delivery of the new iPad and decided to explore and try many applications that I had not considered before. One of these applications was dragon dictate, which enables you to speak to your iPad and its types your voice up for you.
As a wedding photographer do a lot of article and blog writing, mainly to add unique, fresh and interesting content to my own websites as this help my rankings with the search engines and general website visibility. Constantly writing unique articles and fresh content can be hard work and along the suffering task. I find talking an article a lot quicker and easier than writing and trying to naturally flow by type.
With dragon dictate you just hit the record button and talk away you will then see audio levels bouncing up and down. After you have finished your paragraph at the screen to start recording it will then process your audio into text. You can then fine tune by tapping on the word and dragon will give you alternatives, or you can bring up the keyboard to add forgotten punctuation.
Try it, if you're fed up with writing articles by hand, try DragonDictate it's free. And yet this article was written with DragonDictate!
